[BY TELEGRAPHY— ASSOCIATION.] New Plymouth, Friday. At "„ the meeting of the Educational Institute to-day amendments were made in. Mr. Murray's provident fund proposals, and the report was then laid on the table. ; A resolution, by Mr. Voss (North Canterbury), "That the time has how arrived when teachers should bo represented on ;; the boards," was lost. Mr. Newton (Auckland) moved, " That the incoming executive obtain particulars of alleged evasions of the School Attendance Act,; obtain legal advice, and take action accordingly to obtain the efficient administration of the Act." This was carried, after considerable discussion. A motion by Mr. Selby (Southland), " That uniform regulations far the appointment and promotion of teachers throughout the colony are necessary, and that a conference of delegates from the boards, inspectors, and teachers, meet the InspectorGeneral, with the object of recommending a : code of regulations," : was carried. Mr. Wilkinson (North Canterbury) "''j moved, " That schools' and teachers be periodically • classified, and .'■ when from depopulation a school falls below; tho status of the scale,, the teacher; should be given an opportunity of transfer to a school corresponding with his status." This was carried unanimously. '■■:■;■■; At the evening ■ sitting.'. the annual report was submitted. Other business "■ was. taken, and the Council adjourned at a latehsih;,, Members will be taken a trip to the mountain to-morrow by the local institute, if the i weather is fine, and the session Will be resumed in ' the evening.
