Mr. Newton (Auckland) moved, " That the incoming executive obtain particulars of alleged evasions of the School Attendance Act,; obtain legal advice, and take action accordingly to obtain the efficient administration of the Act." This was carried, after considerable discussion. A motion by Mr. Selby (Southland), " That uniform regulations far the appointment and promotion of teachers throughout the colony are necessary, and that a conference of delegates from the boards, inspectors, and teachers, meet the InspectorGeneral, with the object of recommending a : code of regulations," : was carried.
