FRANKLIN AGRICULTURAL SHOW.
- TO THE EDITOR.
Sir,l was glad to notice in the account of the above published ;in the issue of 5 the Herald of March 7, that attention was drawn to the radical change made this year, in ■ not giving 'passes at the "' gate to : .those wishing to go outside the show ground, ' for there was most universal dissatisfaction, and it is likely to do the society's shows of the future very much' harm, for I beard many say they would never enter the ground again. Many people from the ' surrounding j districts entered the ground not knowing the change, and at the time of the arrival of the Auckland or Waikato train wished as usual to go out and meet their friends, but were then told if they did so they would have to pay again if they came back. Many expressed their feelings against the Managing Committee in very strong terms. Town people also, in coming to the Allow, like to take a, turn round the ground, then take > a look round the township, and see what kind of a place Pukekohe is; they return and finish un on the show ground. But "no." said the com' mittee, " we have you inside, and mean to keep you there unless we can fleece you. of another Is." It is a very great pity the committee of the year have made such; a serious blunder in the management of a, show which has been well worked up by past committees, .their main object being to draw a larger sum for the publican's booth, on the ground. They certainly got that, but have caused a widespread discontent in the minds of the general public. .: I am told by a member of the committee that it is only the same as at the Auckland show. Granted, but that is indeed poor ground to take, '. for once inside the Auckland show ground there is no inducement to go outside, for if you do you only get on to the Auckland Road, and also inside there is plenty to interest you all day. This is a matter of general public interest, and I, as one who has done his level best for a number of years to push forward the show held at Pukekohe, feel much hurt at anything being now done to injure the future prospects.—l am, etc., Stanlake, Mauku. Hetwood CRisrE.
