YACHT RACE TO THE KAWAU. Considerable interest is being taken in the yacht race to the Kawau, which will be sailed to-morrow. The yachts will be started from off the end o» Queen-street Wharf. The steamer Kawau leaves the wharf at half-past one o'clock p.m., and will follow the yachts on the race down. The following are the entries and handicaps for the event: — Off the wind: Pandora, _ 50m.; Matua, 50m.; Ngaru, 43m.; Maliaki, 43m.; Spray, 43m.; Ra-rere, 30m.; Mizpah, 30m.; Kotiri, 2.7 m.; Ladye Wilma, 26m.; Rangatira, 26m.; Aorere, 26m.; Thetis, 18m.; Ida, 12m.; Moana, 12m.; Heartsease, 6m.; Thelma, scratch. CANTERBURY CHAMPIONSHIP REGATTA. [BY telegraph.— association.] Christchttrch, Thursday. At a meeting of the Championship Regatta Committee this evening a letter was 'read from the New Zealand Rowiag Association, making alterations in the programme of the regatta, and- changing the association clinkcrs in the junioi fours to best and best boats, and the stump outriggers in the maiden double soulls and youths' double sculls to clinker outriggers. It was resolved to ask the association to reconsider its decisions, as the committee considered the alterations impracticable.
