[BY TELEGRAPH,OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. THE MAORIS AND THE CANTERBURY JUBILEE. The invitation to the Maoris from the Canterbury Jubilee Committee contemplates a very large assemblage of the native race on Jubilee Day. Ten bullocks, 30 sheep, 12 porkers, and two tons of potatoes have been requisitioned for the native feast. MINISTERIAL. Four members of the Government are now absent from Wellington. The Hon. W. Hall-Jones left for Stratford, en route for Auckland, this morning, and will be away about a fortnight. The Hon. C. H. Mills 'a in Blenheim, and the Hons. J, G. Ward and T. Duncan are in Otago. The Hon. J. McGowan will be in Auckland early next month. FOREST PLANTING. The Chief Government Forester (Mr. Mathews) left Wellington this morning for Rotorua, for the purpose of preparing work for the short-sentence prisoners that are to be employed in planting. They will be employed in the Hot Lakes district in January. RIPARIAN DREDGING CLAIMS. The Royal Commission to determine the questions at issue is expected to meet in Dunedin this week. Mr. H. A. Gordon is expected to join his fellow Commissioners in Dunedin.
