VITAL STATISTICS.

[BY TELEGRAPH.PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Wellington, Saturday. The vital statistics for October are ay follows : —

The deaths occurring at hospitals of perrons not residents of the borough wherein the hospital is situated have been aLlotted in each case to the borough where the disease was contracted, and not to that in which death actually took place. The total births in the principal boroughs amounted to 439, against 383 in September, an increase of 56. Deaths in October were 178, ail increase of 27 on the numbei in September. Of the total deaths, males contributed 92, and females 86. Forty-one of the deaths were of children under five years of age, being 23.05 per cent, of the whole number, 32 of them were under one year of age.
