THE CRICKET SEASON.

CONTINUATION OF THE ASSOCIATION CHAMPIONSHIPS. JUNIORS COMPLETE THE FIRST DRAW. The cricket championships in the four grades under the Auckland Cricket Association were continued on Saturday afternoon, when the first grade competitions were carried into the second day, and the matches of the first draw for the three remaining grades were completed. The Auckland first eleven require 191 runs to defeat Parnell, and will needs show better form with the bat than in their initial display if they are to have a chance, while the United v. Ponsonby match seems a foregono conclusion for the former,' the only first grade match bearing an open aspect being that between North Shore and Gordon, in which the first-named team want 100 runs to win, with nine wickets to fall. The details of the various matches are as under: — FIRST GRADE. PARNELL V. AUCKLAND. Auckland, who oil the previous Saturday had scored 48 for tho loss of six wickets, car-. 1 ried the total to 76, Hicks, who had scored 24, not out, carrying his bat for 26 more runs, reaching top score ol 50, tho remaining wickets adding but few runs to the score. Parnell in their second essay put together 157, Young (51) playing sound cricket for his quota, while Soagar (32), Lusk (23), and Richards (21), all shaped well. This leaves Auckland 191 to get to win. Parnell, first innings 109 AUCKLAND.— innings. R. Noill, b Lusk 0 Hawkins, b Lusk 7 D. Clayton, o I. Mills, b Lusk 0 C. Stone, b Resteaux ... 2 W.
