AUSTRALIAN NATIVES' SOCIETY.

A meeting of Australian-born natives (including Tasmanians) resident in Now Zealand was held on Tuesday evening at Canning's Cafe, Queen-street. Tho object of the meeting was to form a society. There was a fair attendance. The namos ot about 30 persons were handed in, including several ladies. The meeting, which was presided over by Mr. W. Coleman, settled and approved a draft constitution, which was ordered to be printed. His Worship the Mayor, M.. David Goldie, was eleoted president of the sooiety. Messrs, W. S. Wilson, Arthur Myers, 0. 0. Dacre, Maurice Casey, and William Coleman were elected vice-presidents. A council of seven was also elected, comprising Messrs. John Taylor, Richard James, James Daore, Leo. Myers, James Murray, J. D. Crawford, and J. MoPhail. Mr. Wilb'am Dottrel! was appointed hon. secretary, Mr. Maurico Casey treasurer, and Mr. Mouldem auditor. The Mayor, Mr. D. Goldie, has accepted the position of president, and has intimated that ho would be pleased to do whatever he could to forward the interests of' the society. A. notice appears in oui advertisement columns intimating that intending members may obtain information as to the conditions of his or her admission by writing to the hon. secretary at Box 54, G.P.0., Auckland. ,
