AUCKLAND SHAREMARKET. On the whole the market showed a slight improvement yesterday. National Banks were a shade firmer, buyers offering 525, while New Zealand Insurances could have been placed at 60s. New Zealand and River Plates were wanted at 20s 6d, sellers 21s. For Auckland Gas, £13 6s was offered for old issue, and £10 for new issue, sellers holding for £13 10s and £10 5s respectively. Northern Steams were done at 7s 6d. In coal stocks Westports could have been placed at 665, and Taupiris at 20s. Devonport Ferrys were in steady demand at 37s 6d, and Leyland and O'Briens at 235. In mining New Zealand Talismans were placed at 13s 9d. Waitekauris were in request at 455, Komate Reefs 2s 6d, Grace Darlings (paid up) ls lid, and Alphas at ls 3d. Waihis were offered at £8 2s 6d, Crowns 13s, and Woodstocks Bs. Tasmanian lines were active. Mount Lyells showed another advance, exchanges taking place at £11 12s 6d, with buyers £11 ss, and no further sellers quoted at the close. North Mount Lyells opened with buyers 725, with 71s as buyers' quotations at last call, sellers asking 745. Thames lines were unchanged, with the exception that Kuranuis were done at 3d. In Coromaudels Bunker's Hills (old issue), wero easier, being done at 2s sd, 2s 3d, and 2s 2d, with buyers 2s Id, and sellers 2s 3d at last call. New issue were wanted at ls Id, while Royal Oaks could have been placed at lOd, and Hauraki Associateds at 4d.

THE THERMO-HYPERPHORIC PROCESS.

THE REV. J. CAMPBELL'S MISSION TO SYDNEY. Cable information was yesterday received from Sydney to the effect that the Rev. Joseph Campbell, who has been in Sydney for some time in connection with the thermohyperphoric process, left the New South Wales capital yesterday in the Mararoa, which arrives at Auckland on Sunday. It is understood that Mr. Campbell has been successful in his mission, which was to obtain further capital for the purpose of effecting improvements and making substantial additions to the thermo-hyperphoric plant at To Aroha.
