FRIENDLY SOCIETIES' DEMONSTRATION.
[«¥/ TELEGRAPH.— correspondent.] Thames, Sunday. The annual Easter Sunday demonstration of the local Friendly Societies took place this afternoon, and was a great success. The demonstration took the form of a procession of the united lodges through the town, headed by tho Naval Band, and afterwards assembling in the Academy of Music, where a most practical address upon the benefits to bo derived from Friendly Societies was delivered by the Rev. S. J. Sorpoll, and a lengthy programme of solos and anthems rendered. His Worship the Mayor (Mr. Thomas Radford) presided, and a collection taken up during the proceedings amounted to £16 10s.
