OUTDOOR SPORTS.

The two most interesting events of the tennis season were played off at the Eden and Epsom ground on Saturday, March 27, when the final rounds for the Ladies' and Men's Championship were decided. The former was won by Miss Nicholson, This being the third time that she has won the cup, it now becomes her property. The men's chtmpionship was won by Mr. J. R. Hooper. A general handicap race of the Auckland Yacht Club took place on Saturday, March 27, and proved a most interesting event. Captain A. Duder acted a 9 starter, while Mr. R. S. Reynolds officiated as judge. The following yachts started :—Volunteer, Viking, Muritai, Matangi, Rita. Moana, Ida, Rungatira, Aorere, Rarere, Zinita, Mahaki, Waircre, Mabel, and Coriuua. The course was 20 miles. The Volunteer passed the winning post first, Viking second, Moana third. A committee meeting of the Auckland Amateur Athletic and Cycle Club was held on April 8, when it was resolved to vote the sum of £50 towards Bending Mr. E. Reynolds, amateur champion cyclist of New Zealaud, to compete at the World's Amateur Championship Cycling Carnival, to be held at Glasgow in August next. The committee also decided to invite subscriptions for the same purpose from the general public. Letters were received from the Wangsnui Club, stating that is was proposed to send Mr. A. H. Holder to compete at the next English Amateur Athletic Championship Meeting, and inviting the Auckland Club to assist the fund. It was decided to reply that the Auckland Club had voted £50 towards sending Rpynolds home, but if the Cyclists' Alliance and the N.Z. A.A.A. would join forces to send both men, the Auckland Club would fall in with any proposed scheme, but prompt action was imperative.
