FEE FOR SHOOTING LICENSES.
TO the editor. Sip.,—Surely it is incumbent on those using your correspondence columns to have some regard for facts, and not to put forward authoritative statements utterly devoid of truth. Under the* above heading your correspondent " Subscriber," in Tuesday's Herald, states, " Last year the Acclimatisation Society raised the fee for game and shooting licenses, and what was the result? That where 100 licenses were issued the year before, there were only six licenses taken out in the borough, and the reason was simply because they had raised the fee from £1 to £5." The Society did not raise any license fee, and the whole statement is a farrago of nonsense.— am. etc., Member of Council Acclimatisation Society.
