FIRE AT A VONDALE.
A cottage and store opposite the Lunatic ( Asylum at Avondale, occupied by Mrs. l Alexander, was totally destroyed by fire ; early this morning. Owing to the lateness t of the hour no further particulars were \ obtainable. ' CHARLES GODFREY'S VAUDE- J VILLE COMPANY. * Pcbmc interest in Mr. Charles Godfrey and t, his talented company continues unabated, \ and last night's attendance was quite equal s to that of the previous perlormances, both [' in point of numbers and appreciation. In " fact, the season has produced such en- i, couraging results that tho management has I induced Sir. Godfrey to prolong his stay p foranother five nights, dating from this evon- .1 ing. Every item again wont off splendidly, n and a ino-<t enjoyable evening's entertain- b ment was the result. A fitting conclusion i to the whole was the dramatic seena, 'On Guard,' by Mr. Charles Godfrey. This ovening a partial change of programme will be submitted, the feature of which will bo the ? introduction of Edison's latest- invention, the " kinematograph, which is just now creatine '' great interest in London, Paris, and New York. The machine presents a remarkable series of animated tableaux from real life, b and a more interesting exhibition could P hardly be imagined. So perfect is the u invention that it is possible to photograph ° an entire play and then roprodtico it to any ° audience from start to finish, with every V iction and gesture, and judging from a private exhibition given last evening, the * enterprising manager, Mr. L. J. Lohr, ri might safely anticipate crowded houses' 8I during the remainder of the season, even 8 ' though this marvellous machine were the only attraction. r<
