YOUNG LADIES' ORCHESTRAL CONCERT.

The Young Ladies' Orchestral Society, of some thirty performers, gavo their first concert for this yearab the Choral Hall last night. It was fairly well attended. Herr Schtnitb was tho musical director. Miss Thorpe made an efficient conductor, and Mies Amy Stevenson as violin principal gavo every satisfaction. The band were heard in Herman's overture, ' Lo Diadem,' selections from 'II Trovatore.'and Roubioi'e ' Marcbe des Troubadours,' all of which were most crodibably rendered. For thoir successful and effective rendering of tho adagio and allegro movements, from Haydn's ' No. 2 Symphony,' they were justly applauded, and had to repeat a part of the music. In Beaupuiß' Minuet' theorchestra manifested signs of unsteadiness, and were at times irresolute in their tempo. However, they were warmly encored ab the conclusion, whereupon they played it again. The first violins throughout emitted fine tone, played with suitable expression, and made the mo»t of the afortzandos, and other accentuation marks, while the quality of tono produced by the full orchestra iu the forte passages was of a rounder and better quality, than is usual at these concerts, Mr. G. M. Reid was in fine form, and was honoured with a decided recall for his expressive delivery of Balfe's 'Good-night Beloved.' He was also heard tojadvantagein Adams' ballad, 'Fiona.' Miss Quinn gave an excellent delivery of Molloy's song, ' Oh How Delightful.' Mastor West was on. thusiastically recalled alter his admirable playing of the difficult cornet fantasia on Handel's ' See the Conquering Horo.' Mr. J. Ferriday gavo a capital delivery of Roockels ' Muya ;' and songs wero also given with acceptance by Miss Vera Moody and Mr. Claude Kissling, while Paque's cello quartette, 'Souvenir de Curia' received full justice in the hands of Misses Taylor, Trevithick, Rice, and McAllisters. The piano accompaniments wero success fully executed by Misses Bates and Thorpe.
