At a special meeting of the Benevolent Trustees held to-day, the chairman stated that he had received a letter from the bank manager, stating that in view of the threatened resignation of the trustees, and die fact that they had no logal power to contact an overdraft, he (the manager) would be jlad if the cheque on the overdrawn ac- ' :ount were held over. In tho meantime, as j he Charitable Aid Board met on that day, I ie had sent a letter to the chairman, and I ihe result was that the accounts passed last I voek were not paid, and there was no wonoy < vitli which to pay the rents due that day. I Hie trustees were stuck up, During tho l liscussion, some members said they must J Icclino to ' sweat' the poor for the Charit- i ible Aid Board.
