THE TAIRUA DIFFICULTY. [by telegraph.— correspondent.]

Thames, Wednesday. The following telegram has been received from the Hon. A. J. Cadman, Minister of Mines, by Mr. W. H. Potts, President of tho Miners' Union, in reply to the telegram forwarded on Monday last on behalf of the executive commijitee appointed by last week's public meeting:—" In reply to your telegram asking if the Gonernment will consent to withdraw the circular issued from the Warden's Office pending the proposed legislation. So far as the legislation is concerned, it will be utterly impossible for me to guarantee that it will pais both Houses on the lines introduced by me. In dealing with this matter generally, the Government decided to cancel the rights granted on lands over which the Warden had no jurisdiction, in order to save the holders of these rights the expenses attendant on a Supreme Court action. As legislation will be introduced which will, I hope, meet these cases, I would suggest that holders of the titles referred to should place them in the Warden's hands, on the underStanding that the case will |be adjourned, pending legislation. Upon the result of the legislation will depend the future action of the Government, and the other parties concerned."
