OPAHEKE ROAD BOARD.

Tub first ordinary meeting of the new Board was held on the 9th instant. Present: Messrs. Brisbane, Donohue, and Shaughnessy. Mr. Brisbane was elected chairman for the ensuing year. It was resolved that the ordinary monthly meetings be held on the second Saturday in each month in the Valley School, at one o'clock, Mr. Brisbane was elected treasurer, and Messrs. Brisbane, Donohue, and Wagner were deputed to sign cheques. Mr. J. T. Stembridsre was appointed clerk and collector. Mr. Brisbane reported having employed Mr. Diniu for three days to back and blind metal in the valley, and let some water tables to clean at 2s 6d per chain on Sutton'sHiil. Action endorsed. Mr. W.Shaw wrote asking the Board to make a side outting between his farm and Mr, Sheridan's, which had been decided to be done by "thirds" from Government lauds. A lengthy discussion rawed as to the best means of taking water off the road near Mr. Cummins'. It was resolved that Messrs. Brisbane, • Donohue, and Mathieson lay off the works, and ea tenders for next meeting. Mr. McDowell being present, was asked to do a day's work on the road near Mr. Pick&rd's in turning water off the road.
