SUDDEN DEATH AT GISBORNE.

[b* telegraph. —press ASSOCIATION.] GiSBORNE, Thursday. Mr. Arundel Clkavk Hugo, a leading member of the Masonic body, died suddenly last night. He was well and strong at a quarter to ton, and took to bed at ten o'clock, dying Within half an hour. Strychnine crystals were found at bis bedside. At the inquest Dr. Innes gave evidence that a post mortem showed that deceased has been suffering from " white liver," and although strychnine mixed with bread crumbs had been found on the dressing-table of deceased's bedroom, he was of opinion that death wa.« due to convulsions caused by his liver. The jury returned a verdict of " Death from natural causes." The deceased will be accorded a Masonic funeral.
