[IY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] i Wellington, Tuesday. In November last a case was brought by the! Commissioner of Taxes against the Bade of Australasia, to teat whether the Baik was entitled to deduct oub of their inclne interest on deposits paid in London, and Judge Richmond gave judgment in favwr of bhe bank. In consequence, howevel of the retrospective legislation passed last session at the instance of the Tax Depar nent, the parties bo the suit decided to rjfer the case back to the Judge, and this moving be reversed the previous decision, holing, bhab in the light of fresh legislabionpn bhe subjecb, bhe bank was liable to bhe fax.
