[from our own correspondents.] Hamilton, Saturday. There will be a keen contest for the two vacant seats in the Kirikiriroa Road Board, three popular men, Messrs A. Primrose! George Edgecumbe, aud E. B. Cox, of Taupiri', having been nominated. The election takes place on Thursday, the 3rd proximo, at the Waikato County Council Chambers, Hamilton, and at the Taupiri Public Hall between the hours of 9a.m. and 6 p.m. Captain Laug and the officers of H.M.s. Tauranga have accepted the invitation of the secretary of the South Auckland Racing Club to attend their race meeting; a Claude" lands on Monday. There was no election for the Road Board districts of Tamahere, Cambridge, and 'Haotaoroa, the nominations not exceeding the vacant seats. For Tamahere, Mr. J. Baru°h is returned in place of his father, Mr. J, J Barugh, with Mr. A. T. Wheeler, re-elected. For Cambridge, Messrs. Jas. Taylor and H. M. Pickering: and for Taotaoroa, Messrs. S. Seddon and H. J. Turner, are re-elected. Cambridge, Saturday. m The Cambridge Farmers' Club, after considerable discussion, at last resolved to pay the fee and send a delegate to the Agricultural Conference, and the chairman, Mr. R. Reynolds, was elected to the office with the proviso that he be permitted to send a substitute if his business engagements prevent his going. With a view to forming a club library, it has been resolved to hand over the money lying in the bank, raised by the last horse show held in Cambridge, to that purpose. Whatawhata, Saturday. In accordance with the resolution of the Newcastle Highway Board, the chairman, Mr. P. Corboy, and three other members of the Board, visited the newly sold allotments in the township of Whatawhata to see for themselves the alleged obstruction of fences. They were unanimous in their opinion that the fences complained about were an obstruction under the meaning of the Act, and ought to be removed. Applications to erect swinggates instead of removing the fences will be made.

Ohaupo, Saturday. Messrs. Hunter and Co.'s sheep fair on Thursday was a great success, and proves that the system of flooding the market with 20,000 sheep at a time is not in favour of the vendor. Only 3000 sheep were yarded, and of the usual class, but higher price! by one to two shillings per head were realised, and all sold. The highest price for rams was 4 guineas. Store crossbred wethers from 8s 3d to 9s 6J; young crossbred ewes, from 7s to 8s 6d, lambs, from 43 to 7s; merinos, from 23 6d to 4s ; grey-faced ewes, in lamb, fetched 7s 6d. Messrs. McNicol had a good muster of sheep and cattle the same day at Paeroa. Prices ruled low for cattle, and many of the stores were unsold, but beef cattle were all sold, and sheep sold fairly well. Calves, 19s to 27s ; fat cows, £5 ,5s to £5 10s; fat heifers, £4 2s Gd; fat steers, £6 10s to £6 17s 6d ; yearling steers, £2 Is; yearling heifers, 26s to .'s2s; 15-months steers, 51s; IS-months to 2-year-old steers, £3 2s 6d ; fat 2-year-old heifers, £2 15s to £3 15s ; full-mouth ewes, in forward condition, 6s 3d ; fat ewes, 7s 6d to Ss; good lamb3,7s 5d to 7s 9d. At a public meeting held on Thursday evening, in the public hall, Mr. Broadbent in the chair, it was resolved to form a club. to be called "The Te Awamutu Football Club," There was a good attendance, and those present appeared to be very enthusiastic in the matter. The subscription fee was fixed at 2s 6<l. The following officers were then appointed :—President, the Rev. W. H. Wilson; vice-presidents, Messrs. J. Goodfellow, R. B. Brown, G. Aluer, H. Lewis, P. Crump, the manager of the , station at Ohauiti for the Estates Company, was entertained by his numerous friends at a banquet held at VVhitcombe" Masonic Hotel.
