WEST END ROWING CLUB.
The last series of trial fours of the abovenamed club were held on Saturday last the water being fine and smooth for gig rowing and some good contests were witnessed. The final heat was rowed between crews stroked by J. Lowry and H. Matthews, respectively and after a good race Matthews'crew won by a quarter of a length. The names of the winning crew are: H. Matthews, R Dowden G. O. Stephenson, Bartlett, and Shepherd (cox). Before the commencement of the afternoon s sport the captain, Mr. C White, on behalf of the members of the club' presented Messrs. 0. F. Lowry and D R Salmon with two handsome silver butter dishes, beautifully engraved and inscribed • I resented by the members of the \V E C on the occasion of their recent marriage "
