CANON DANES.
[BY telegraph.—-press association.] Wellington, Monday. The Rev. Canon W. Danks, who has been offered the Bishopric of. Wellington, is about 45 years of age, and was a graduate of Queen's College, Oxford. He took his degree of B.A. in 1866, and that of M.A. in the following year. He was appointed deacon in the Cnuroh of England in 1868, and was ordained priest by the Bishop of Lincoln in 1869. Canon Banks is Rector of Richmond, Yorkshire, and was appointed Canon of Ripon Cathedral, Yorkshire,, in 1890. In 1883 Canon Banks received the appointment of select preacher to the University of Cambridge. . • ,
