TASTING POISON.
■' [BT telegraph.— association.] | Wellington, Monday. i A Permanent Artilleryman named Bed" zer was accidentally poisoned this afternoon by tasting some poison which he had been taking over to the forts to clear out rats,, which are a great pest there. He dipped his finger in the powder, and placed a little on his tongue. The poison took rapid effect, and strong measures had to betaken to save the man. He was removed to the Hospital; and eventually recovered.
