AUCKLAND. MESSRS. HUNTER AND NOLAN'S REPORT. Horse-feed, seeds, grain, &c.: The demaud has been slack, and supply sufficient for requirements. We quote: Oats, 2s 7d to 29'8d per bushel; maize, on wharf, '2s 7d ;ex store, 2a 9d; bran, £3 per ton ; oaten chaff, £3 to £4 per ton. Horses : Nothing very noteworthy has occurred in the market during the week either as to numbers, stamp, or value. At the Durham Yards on Friday there was but a limited number submitted by auction, and the attendance was small, and both vendors and buyers being engaged on the Show Ground. We quote Heavy draught, £20 to £25: light and medium, £6 to £17 10s; riding horses, £4 10s to £815s. Wool, hides, skins, tallow, bones: Hides were pitched at the Durham Yards on Tuesday in limited numbers, bub a good deal of wool and sheepskins. Prices were sustained. Extra stout ox hides scarce, worth 5d to sjd per lb. We quote : Stout ox, 3|d to 4£d per lb; medium,, 2id to 3d ; cow and steer, ljd to 2Jd; calf skins, 2Jd to 3Jd per lb; tallow, 16s to 19s cwt; bones, £3 to £3 5s per ton ; sheepskin, local, 2s 3d to 4s 6d each; country. Cattle : Scarcely an average number have been brought forward and disposed of at prices generally in favour of the purchaser. There was a moderate muster at Newmarket on Tuesday, but it proved ample for requirements. There was no alteration in the value of dairy stock and for fat beasts; prices were slightly in favour of the purchaser ; beef sold at from 18s to 20s per 1001b. The prize oxen sold at from £13 to £16 each ; prize cows, £8 to £10 each. Some averages of fat steers were £8 2s 6d, £8 15s, £8 0s Bd, £7 15s 7d, £7 lis lOd, £6 17s 6d, £6 7s 9d. Sheep : There was a good many penned at Newmarket on Tuesday, but there was an absence of good wethers in wool, prices ranged from lis 3d to 14s; shorn wethers, 9s 6d to 13s 9d ; shorn ewes. 9s 6d to 13s 3d ; prize wethers, shorn, 14s 3d to 17s ; spring lambs ranged from 5s 3d to lis 3d; pigs were scarce but at low values ; porkers sold at from 22s to 365. MESSRS. ALFRED BUCKLAND AND SONS' REPORT. At the Hay market during the past week, fodder has ranged from Is 6d to 3s 6d the cwt. Maize, 2s 7d to 2s 9d; wheat, 3s9d ; oats. 2s 2d to 23 6d the bushel. Chaff has been forwarded in excess of requirement, some of indifferent quality, prices have ranged from £1 17s 6d to £3 5s the ton. On Friday horse stock yarded numerously, useful draft ranged from £8 to £23 each ; spring cart, horse, and harness, £22 10s ; a buggy £16. On Tuesday hides were firm at late values, ox hides ranged from 2d to 3sjd ; cow hides, 2d to 2|d the lb ; tallow, 17s to 20s the cwt; bones, .'is the cwt; lamb skins, 8d to Is 4d : pelts, 5d to 9d ; wooled skius up to 5s 3d each. Many bags and dumps of wool also sold. Prices ranged from 4Jd to 6.i'd the lb. Messrs. Buckland Shipherda property was withdrawn from sale. On Wednesday at the special sale held at Mr. Totty's, Remuera, there was but a moderate attendance, and the sundries sold at low values, the draught horses ranged in price from £10 to £20 each. On the show grouuds the Lincoln rams shown by Mr. Overton, of Christchurch, were freely competed for, prices ranged from 21 to 41 guineas, averaging 27 guineas each. At Remuera, on Thursday, store cattle were yarded numerously. Several hundred sold. Late values were fully sustained. Dairy cattle plentiful, were also better worth. Prices ranged from £4 to'£6 10s each. The pure-bred Alderneys did not sell so well as expected. The cows brought £5 10s to £10; heifers, £7 to £9 5s ; bulls, £3 to £3 los eacn. Young and fat cattle plentiful; 70 yaraed. Fresh-dropped calves brought from 6s to lis ; weeks'-okl calves, from 12s to 25s each. Fat cattle short of usual supply (172 yarded), were at first at low values, but a few having been passed, prices rallied. Light-weight steers brought fully 20s, heavy-weight 18s to 19s the 1001b; 150 sold. Sheep in average number (1112 yarded) fairly kept late values. Fat ewes, in their wool, brought 15s 6d ; shorn, 8s 3d to 12s ; shorn wethers, 8s 9d to 14s 3d ; store ewes, lambs at side, 4s each. Lambs, all of good quality, yarded numerously (314 sold), at first kept last week's values,but fell in price as the sale proceeded, about Is 6d each. Prices mostly ranged from 7s 6d to lis; others from 5s each. Pigs more numerous than for several weeks were of good quality, and sold freely at satisfactory prices. MESSRS. O. W. BINNKY AND SONS* REPORT having offered and cleared a large catalogue of hides, skins, and tallow under brisk competition, and quote : — Extra prime stout ox: None to hand; prime stout, 4Ad to 4jfd ; stout, 4d to 4£d ; medium and steers, 2.Jd to 3fjd ; heavy cow, 2-jd to '2od ; medium, to 2d; kip and calfskins, 2Jd to 3j*d per lb; damaged, nominal prices. Skins : Longwools, 4s 6d to 5s lOd ; crossbred 3, 3s 9d to 4s 4d; country, 2a to 4s 6d ; pelts, 4d to 9d ; lambskins, lOd to Is 3d each.
