WELLINGTON RACING CLUB'S SUMMER MEETING. [BY TELKGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION. J Wellington, Thursday. Lovely weather was experienced for the opening day of the Wellington Racing Club's Summer Meeting, and the attendance was larger than has been seen at the Hutt for some years, it being estimated that 3000 persons were present. The racing throughout was good, and the cup a pretty race, though Cynisca. won rather easily at the finish, and paid a nice dividend. In the Hack Race won by Uloonee a sensational dividend of £131 5s was paid, there being seven investors on him, mostly in nhares. The sum of £8072 was put through the machines during the day. The following are the results :— Annivkksary Handicap of 80sovs, second horse lOsovs. One mile. Messrs. M. and C. Hobbs' Prime Warden, by Apremont—Miss Kate, 7st 71b (Cusden) 1 Mr. G. Frolic, and this pair headed the field as they swept past the stand just clear of Cynisca ana Boulanger. who were racing together a length ahead ot the favourite and Dudu, .Strephon last. Along the river St. Andrew drew out clear from Boulanger and Cynisca, then followed Craokshot and Kotuku, Strephon still last. As the field raced along the back stretch St. Andrew and almost on terms were at the head of affairs, with Cyuisca a handy third, and Dudu and Crackshot a length away. As they approached the turn Boulamjer was a length in front of St. Andrew, and his victory was loudly proclaimed, but Cynisca had yet to be reckoned with, and the mare being given her head she caught Boulangar as they turned iuto the straight, and won rather easily by a length and a-half, St. Andrew threequarters of a length behind Boulanger.
