SAN FRANCISCO SERVICE.
MR. SPRECKLES' PROPOSALS. Sydney, March 9. It is reported here that Mr. Spreckles is offering, if the 'Frisco mail contract is renewed to build several magnificent boats for a fortnightly service, to include Wellington and Melbourne as ports of call. Some of the steamers would proceed from San Francisco via Auckland to Sydney, other steamers from San Francisco' via Wellington to Melbourne.
