THE FINANCIAL PANIC IN PARIS.

Paris, March 8. The suicide of M. Rocherau, manager of the Comptoir d'Escompte de Paris, is attributed to the threatened collapse of the copper syndicate, of which he was the principal financier. Thousands of depositors besieged the Comptoir. Two millions sterling were withdrawn. The other banks are. assisting the institution.

The shares of the Comptoir d'Escompte de Paris have fallen heavily. The Bank of France has been requested to advance 30,000,000 francs to meet to-day's demands. The troubles of the company are due to the position of the Imperial Copper Syndicate, which is considered critical.
