THE AUCKLAND REGATTA.

The usual meoting of the Regatta Committee was held last night in the Waitoi mata Hotel. There was a good attendance, i and a large amount of detail business was 3 gone through. Mr. T. Henderson was I elected vice-presidont of the club, and Mr. ' C. F. James, a member of committee, I Messrs. Henderson and Cozens being chosen I auditors. The general entry night was fixed for Friday, 24th inst. [ As there I appeared to be no likelihood of any but local crews taking ipart in the Champion j Whaloboat race, and but poor competition j from them, it was resolved after some dis- , cussion, to alter the prize money, for that event from £70 for Ist prize and £10 for second, to £50 for first and £25 for second. Though no entries had as yet been received for the Canoe raceis, the Secretary stated . that two crews were coming from Tauranga to take part. The time allowance for open sailing boats 3 was fixed at 60secei per foot, Mossrs. Ross " and Nelson being appointed a sailing comI mittee. It was decided that the charge 1 for admission to the end of the Queen-stroot i wharf be Is and 6d for ladies, and to tho Railway wharf Gd. It was resolved that 1 tenders for two bands bo called for. A subcommittee wore appointed to arrange the 1 details of tho Maori haka and fireworks display, which are proposed to be held on tho • wharf on the evening of regatta day. Other ' necessary work in regard to the arrange- ' ments was apportioned to tha several memI bers of the committee. Ail the members ' having subscription books were exhorted to " make tho most of the timo, and the public 1 may expect a vigorous canvass during the next two weeks.
