SPORTING.
AUCKLAND SUMMER MEETING. A capital morning's work was got through at Ellerslie yesterday. Nelson put in one circuit on the tan, when Raglan joined him, and they put in two moro circuits at a good pace. The old horse moved very well, and finished strongly. Hilda put in oncc round on the plough in company with Puschka, when the latter dropped out, and Balista joined her sister, and they put in a sound once round, Hilda appearing to have much the best of it at the finish. Lochiel and Enid cantered twice round on the tan, the former moving very freely. Manton cantered once round. He looks very well. There was very little wagering on the Cup during yesterday. 100 to 33 was 011 offer fibout either Lochiel or Manton, but there were no takers. o(J to 10 would have been accepted about Hilda, but four " tenners" being the best offer against the daughter of Musket, no business resulted. Kangaroo was yesterday scratched for the Auckland Steeplechase. WAIPU JOCKEY CLUB. The following are the entries for the Annual Meeting, to be hold i)th January, 1889 Handicap Hurdle Race. — Titoki, Te Aroha, Euchre, Sailor Boy, Marmion, Woodpecker, Kangaroo (Loram's), Speculation, Scout, and Cock Kobin. W.J.C. Handicap.— Alma, Totara, Athena, Cigarette, Feverole, Rob Roy, Woodpecker, Kangaroo (Loram's), Kitten, Nell, Phoebe, and Cock Robin.
SOUTH AUCKLAND RACES. [FROM OUR OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Hamilton, Tuesday. The acceptanccs and nominations for the South Auckland Racing Club's meeting on the 29th inst., are considered highly satisfactory. Tho committee are at work having certain necessary improvements made to the course, grandstand, &c., so that everything shall go off satisfactorily on the 29th.
THAMES JOCKEY CLUB.
Acceptances for the following races, to be run at the Summer Meeting of the Thames Jockey Club, are due this evening : • —Parawai Handicap, Thames Hurdle Handicap, Thames Plato Handicap, County Handicap Steeplechase, Thames Handicap Steeplechase, County Handicap Hurdles, and Stewards' Handicap. Entries will be also received for Selling Race and Novel Race, and nominations for Midsummer Handicap.
