The English, Scottish, and Australian Chartered Bank was stuck-up this afternoon by a man named Devere, who presented a revolver at the teller, and compelled him to throw up his hands. The manager came to the teller's assistance, however, and the robber fled, but was speedily captured. No money was taken.

THE SYDNEY TRAMWAYS. Sydney, October 15. Tenders are invited for the purchase of the city tramways for 45 years. One condition of purchase is that steam motors within the city boundaries must be superseded by some other motive power within five years.

THE GOLD DISCOVERY IN NEW GUINEA. Brisbane, October 15. The Commissioner of New Guinea telegraphs that there is nothing to justify a rush at the recent gold discovery.
