A CONVICTION QUASHED.
[by telegraph.—press association*.] CmiISTCIIURCH, Friday. In" Chambers to-day Mr. Justice Ward quashed the conviction of O'Connor, convicted of illicit distillation at Timaru, on the ground that his term of imprisonment was longer than prescribed by the section of the Act under which he was convicted.
