FATAL FISHING-BOAT ACCIDENT.
A PLUCKY RESCUE.
[BY TELEGRAPH.—I'RKSS ASSOCIATION.] Bluvf, Friday. Captain Carey, of thoßotomahana, noticed distress signals whon passing Dog Island this morning. Ho roported tho matter to tho Harbour Board, who sent tho tug out to ascortain the cause. Ir, was found that the fishing smack Nelly was wrecked last Tuesday morning several miloa off Dog Island. During a heavy gale a sea struck her, carrying away tho rudder, and breaking the deck in. Jamc3 Young-, the mastor, an unmarried man, was washed off and drowned. The other men—John Young and James Duncan —woro rescued by tho lighthouse-keeper, who observed tho accident, and pluckily put off in an open boat, risking his own life.
