PONS ONLY CAMELLIA SHOW.
The second Camellia and Winter Flower and Fruit Show, under the auspices of the Royal Horticultural Society, takes place this day in the < Ponsonby Hall, near the Three Lamps, and we trust that the residents in the district and public generally will liberally patronise the same. The doors open at 1.30 p.m., and the sale of exhibits takes place at 9.30 p.m. We anticipate a good show, as the Ponsonby growers are on their mettle, challenged by the veteran growers of Lpsom and Remuera, who intend to swoop down with their exhibits and take all the prizes, as rumour says. It is, therefore, to be hoped that, as such is intended, the Ponsonby growers of pretty flowers, who are many, will make the present exhibition the best show of camellias, etc., which has yet been held in Auckland. The Ponsonby growers have skill, and the weather which has recently prevailed has been decidedly in favour of cut flowers, of which a very large collection is expected to be staged. There will also be a good display of fruit of various kinds.
