LAND SALES.
[by TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Friday. By the courtesy of the Minister of Lands, 1 am enabled to send you the result of the land sales for the past month in advance of the ordinary publication of such details. The Minister considers the result of these sales to be of a satisfactory character. Daring the month of August there were sold for cash 5248 acres, the purchase money amounting to £0179. During the same period 2636 acres were disposed of to eighteen deferred payment selectors, the instalments amounting to £149 per annum. Under perpetual lease 16,915 acres were leased to sixty-two selectors, the annual rental amounting to £618: total, 14,799 acres to 102 selectors.
