Resignation of a School Committee. — Mr. Klngsford wrote on behalf of the Pokeno Hill School Committee, intimating the resignation of that body, as the Board had nob considered their wishes in the question of appointing a teacher for the Pokeno Hill School. The construction which the Board placed on the word " consult " was different to that which was usually applied. The Chairman said that the Board had consulted the committee on this question in a very complete manner indeed, but the committee had ignored the consultation by wishing to press the appointment of a teacher who was not in the service of the Board. On Mr. Upton's motion it was agreed, "That the Board receives this letter with regret, and asks Mr. Kingsford to take the steps required by the Education Act." A number of minor applications from country school committees, etc., were considered, and the meeting closed.
