EDUCATION RETRENCHMENT
[BY TELEGRAPH.—PRESS ASSOCIATION.] Christchdrch, Thursday. The Board of Education have reduced the salaries of their three inspectors from £500 to £400 per annum. They have not reduced the amount of teachers' salaries, but have raised the number of children entitling schools to the services of assistants, so as to reduce the number of teachers employed.
