WAITEMATA COUNTY COUNCIL.

Thb ordinary meeting of the Waitemata County Council was held in Palmoraton Buildings yeeterday. Present: Mr. O. Mays (chairman), Messrs, Lang, Cantwell, Smyth, Monk, Alison, Sinclair, and MoLood. The minutes of lait meeting were confirmed. ABSORmof of Road Boards.—The fol lowing resolution, "That the VVondhill Road Board, and the Waioneke Board, bo diesolved, and both districts merged in the County," was submitted and carried, on the motion of the Chairman, seconded by Mr. [Sinclair. Statkmknt of Accounts.— The statement of accounts was submitted as follows : — Cash received during month : Subsidy, £500 ; rates on Crown lands, £ISI 3s 10d : County rates. £'2f)2 Is Id ; licenses, £145 : total. £1078 4< lid. Balance duo to bank, £160 10a; accounts for payment, £2(33 17« 7d. total debit, £124 7« 7d. The statement of outstanding accounts was also road by the chairman. As against this there w»» a eubsidy of over £300, and tho rate of £3674, which wonld be clue in a mouth. Tkndeks pok Works.—Teudere for clearing and forming four sections of tho Wai nuuku-WaikoukOttlioad were received. The eugioeer's estimate wns £30. The tenders tanged from £48 downwards to £25, and the tender of Mr. Kiseley at this prico was acoepted. Tenders for repairs and maintenance of other county roada were considered, but none wore accepted except that of Mr. John Johnston. £3, tor the Taupakl Road. WiiAKK at Brigham's Crkek.— The plans for this work were submitted, and the Chairman intimated that probably the Harbour Board would contribute to tho cost. Tne estimate was £192. On tho motion of the Chairman the plans were referred to tho Harbour Board for their approval. NoRTBCOTK Wharf.—The Chairman said fhero was nothing fresh for the committee to report. It was impossible to do more now than keep the track open. Si-acgiitkrhocse LICENSES.—Mr. John Poster applied for a license for a slaughterhouse for Waimauku. It was favourably reported on by Constable Foreman, and the application wss granted. Mr. Gee reapplied for & slaughterhouse liconso at Northaote, The application was made through Mr. Brassey, solicitor, and it was agreed that permission be granted to the present slaughterhouse till September, and that in tho meantime suitable j.r«mleca be constructed, or the present onf» made suitable. Little Muddy i rkkk Koad.—Mr. Beetliam, county engineer, sent in a report on this road, and a tricing, and recommended that Mr. Martin's line should be adopted. There was a lot of correspondence on this subject, Mr. Lang requiring one road, and the settlors another, and amongst the principal opponents to Mr. Lang's scheme was his own eon, XJr. Marshall Lang. It appeared that Mr. Boetham had notyot made his tinal report, and the matter was deferred till next meeting. Waikomiti Road.-Mγ. D. A. Tole forwarded a letter from Sir Gnorge Grey addressed to him by Mr. John Quiun. It was a complaint as to the state of the roads in the parish of Waikomiti. A report fiom Mr. Percy Smith was received pointing out that there waa a road, and Mr. Cantwell said that there wore no settlers from Waikomiti to tho coast alone this time. Reports from the Assistant Surveyor-General on this and other road matters in the district were submitted. The engineer's report, embodying the extracts from that of the Assistant Sarveyor-General, was adopted, and it was ngroed to refer those portions of the report requisite to the various applicants' requirement? to them. Kimeu Kailway Station.—Mr. John Coom, resident railway engineer, asked whether it was intended to metal the new road to Kumeu Railway Station. It was agreed to reply that the Council did not consider the work required. Waimatko.— Tae same officer wrote re tho fencing cf Waimauku Station, that he would supply gate and posts, and it wa9 agreed to have the gate fixed as required. Waikoukoc Bridge.—Mr. Wilkins wrote with regard to repairs which he had effected, end suggestions for further repairs, referring the Council to Mr. Sinclair for farther information, and it was agreed to accept Mr. Wilkiiih , offer for repairs to approaches, etc., an(i his account was passed for payment. Miscellaneous.—A number of other minor applications were dealt with, and the meeting tnen terminated.
