THE MEETING OF NATIVE DELEGATES.
[BY lELKGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT.] Wellington, Monday. I am informed, by the Native Minister, that the meeting of delegates from the various tribes came to an agreement in respect ol : the native lands disposition, quite in accord with the intention of tho recent proposed legislation upon that subject. They acquiesced in the general principle of the measure. They preferred that the sale of lands should be conducted under the authority of the "Commissioner," rather than " Boards." The provision as to "Boards " was only inserted for the reason that the native themselves might be prepared to be represented upon such Boards. The delegates came to a resolution that all lauds to bo hereafter sold shall be sold only according to the native land law, and then selling to private persons, irrespective of the laws, shall cease. They made some demur at first to allowing the Government five per cent, upon these transactions, to compensate for their trouble and expense, but they afterwards yielded this point. The Native Minister regards tho result of the meeting as very satisfactory.
