WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The body of George Buck, who was drowned while attempting to cross the Wairuroro River last Monday, has been found about 28 miles down the river from where the accident occurred.

The Wellington Poultry, Pigeon, Canary, Kabbit, and Cat Association's second annual show was opened by tho Governor to-day. There is a much larger number of entries than last year.

GREYMOUTH, Tuesday,

Archibald Hunter, publican, of Hatter's Terrace, Nelson Creek, was thrown from his horse while ridiug homo, and dragged over 200 yards through one leg catching in the stirrup. His injuries are five ribs broken, two of them in two places, and the left lung lacerated. The injuries are so serious that they may prove fatal.

NELSON, Tuesday. At the inquest on the body of a man named Sparks, found in a ditch at Waimea, the evidence showed that Sparks, who was sixty .years of age, had broken bis neck by a fall. A verdict in accordance was returned.

TIMARU, Tuesday. By a fire at Oeraldine early this morning the Young Men's Club and a shop occupied by Mr. Hoskings, saddler, was totally destroyed. Insurances : £.500 in the Liverpool, London, and Globe, and £200 in the .New Zealand.

William Hare, one of the Canterbury pilgrims who arrived in Lyttelton in December, ISSO, in the ship Creasy, died at Hook yesterday.

A man named Smith, on the Collisbrook station, committed suicide ;by taking poisoned grain. He was engaged as a rabbittr. No cause is assigned at present.

John Gilluson, charged with breaking into the Auld Scotland Hotel and stealing money and jewellery to the value of £17, was remanded.
