CITY SCHOOLS COMMITTEE.
The usual fortnightly meeting of the City Schools Committee took place last evening. Present: —Messrs. W. Gorrie (Chairman), Shalders, Hannan, McMasters, Crowilier, and E. Carr.
Official Changes.—The Secretary of the Board of Education informed the committee ill a letter that the following-changes had taken place in the probationers and pupil teachers at the city schools, which have been authorised since the 14th ultimo:—Wei-lesley-street: Removed Miss Davis, pupil teacher ; attached Miss Wotherspoon, probationer. Baresford-street School: Removed temporarily, Miss 8. A. Jones, probationer. Nelson street School : Removed Miss Meldrum, probationer; attached Miss Harris, Messrs. Nettlcship and Hippisley, probationers.
Increase of Salary.—ln reply to Mies Jerram's application for increase of salary, recommended by committee, the Secretary of Board of Education informed the committee that the applicant was already paid in excess of regulation scale.
Over Age.—Three applications from parents for their daughters either to remain in or to enter city sohools, ages ranging from 15£ to 18 years of age.ln the first case the girl was allowed to remaiu to the end of the year; in the second, the application was deferred for further information ; and in the third the application was refused.
Bkiiesfoud-street School.—Mr. Henry B. Wilson applied to the committee that he might bo confirmed in his appointment of second assistant teacher by the committee. —Agreed to.Head-teacher called the attention of the committee to the removal of a pupil teacher without a substitute being provided. Also to damage to asphalt by carters.—Referred to Chairman.
