[renter's TELEGRAMS.] THE CASE OF MILITARY INSUBORDINATION. Melbourne, August 8. A military Court is sitting at Queenscliff, in order to enquire into the alleged dissatisfaction manifested by the members of the permanent artillery force stationed there. An application has been made to the Supreme Court of Victoria to test the legality of the sentence lately passed upon the men found guilty of insubordination. Later. His Honor Judge Higinbotham has granted a writ of certiorari in the case of the two gunners of the permanent Artillery force, lately condemned to a term of imprisonment for insubordination, on the ground that the officers composing the Court-marshal had not subscribed to the oath in accordance with the provisions of the Discipline Act. SMALL-POX AT SYDNEY. Sydney, August 9. A case of small-pox has been discovered on board the Messageries Maritime's s.s. Oceanic. The vessel arrived in Port Jackson twelve days ago, and the medical authorities are informed that the eruption was visible on the third day after the vessel's arrival. THE EASTERN EXTENSION TELEGRAPH COMPANY. Melbourne,- August 8. Mr. McGuire, the Superintendent of the Eastern Extension Telegraph Company, states that if the present subsidy be renewed for a term of 10 years, the company will be prepared to make the proposed reduction in the cable tariff for Press and other telegrams. THE STRIKE OF OMNIBUS DRIVERS, Melbourne, August 8. The Omnibus Company have put on fifty new drivers in place of the men on strike. Others will be engaged as soon as possible, so as to enable the service to be resumed. SHIPPING. Sydney, August 9. Arrived : The barque Ansdeli, from Whangaroa. THE MAWHERA. Melbourne, August 8.
