RIFLE MATCH.—HOBSON V. NAVALS. On Saturday afternoon a friendly contest between 10 men of the Naval Artillery and 10 men of the Hobson Corps, came off at the Mount Eden butts, and resulted in a victory for the Navals by 7 points. As will be seen by the subjoined score, the Navals ran away from the HobßOns at 200 and 300 yards, having fully 29 points the best of it; but at 500 yards the Hobsons succeeded in reducing it to within 7 points. The firing was very fair considering the variable and strong wind blowing at the range. Captain Dignan was on the ground during the firing, and at the conclusion of the match three cheers were given for the Navals by the Hobsons, and as cordially returned. The soores were taken by Secretary Parker for the Navals, and Secretary Johnston for the Hobson Rifle Club. The return match will be looked forward to with great interest.
