SIR E. BARING SUMMONED - TO LONDON. [BY ELECTBIC TELEGBAPH. COPYRIGHT.] [BEUTEK'B TELEQBAMB.] London, April 19. It has transpired that-Major Sir Evelyn Baring, Consul-General at Cairo, has been summoned to London by the first mail.. It is understood'that: the Government have now under"coil-!' sideration important questions relative to the state" of affairs in Egypt. A Press Association message dated London, April 19, says :—-It is understood that the Egyptian army will not be touched by the British proposals, which indicate a liipited protectorate. The French Press shows an increasing hostility to the establishment of a British protectorate, and rejoices over Sir Vernon Harcourt's disavowal of any intention of annexation.'.
