THE KAWHIA AFFAIR.
A well-infoiuied correspondent at Kihikihi wires to us that he has received information from' Kawbia to. the effect, that the buoys latoly put down by Captain Fairchild to mark the entrance to' the harbour have not been molested by the natives,- as was> at , first reported. Thri only "outrage"- committed has been the pulling down of the pole erected on Albatross Point, appears to have arisen out of a quarrel with Mr. Langloy, one of the settlers, respeciing-some timber which he is alb to have' used without the permission of the natives. . We also learn that Mr. Butler, Private Secretary to the Native Minister, has had an- interview with the.kading ha'ives.at Kawhia respecting the matter, .but that nothing definite came of.it. Mr. Butler left Kawhia.by the Government steamer Uinemoa on Tuesday evening;
