The schooner Lapwing left Sydney, via Newcastle, for Giaborno on the 30th ult. The U.S.S. Co.'a b.s. Arawata is to leave Sydney for this port, via Russell, on the 7th in x. The brig Syren loft Sydney for Auckland on the 24th ulfc., with 1354 bags bonedusfc, 15 tons pijMron, and 7 crates buckets. The schooner Island Lily, Cooper, bound for Lyttolton, left Sydnoy on the IMth ult. for Newcastle, to load coal for the port of destination named. The brig Naiad left Newcastle for this port on November 25th, with a cargo of coal. 1 The barque Loongana, hence, arrived at Newcastle on the 27th November, The Austhal.— A cablegram has been received at Sydney from the Hoard of Directors of the Orient Company, ordering tho operations ■which were being carried on with the view of raisin.; the Austral to be stopped. Another scheme, it appears, is to bo tried, and that is to build a coffer dam round tho whole ship, and then p»rap it and tho vessel dry nt tho sumo time. The carrying out of this plan will entail a very great expenditure, but there is no doubt that it has been decided to adopt it in preference to other plans which have been submitted, after tho opinions of the leading scientists of Groat Biitain, if not of Europe, have been obtained. Tho barque Prospector, from Mercury li«'»y, arrived at Melbourne on November 15. The barque had to shelter under Label Inland for SG hours, during a heavy S.W. gale. The brifl: Robin t£ood, from the Kaipara, arrived at Melbourne on the 10th ulfc, after a 16-days' passage. The schooner Aratapu left Newcastle for the Kaipara on November 23, with a cargo of coal; and the barque Mary Mildred left Sydney for Kaipara on the same day with a general cargo. The brig Albert the Good left Newc.istlo on the Ist iiist. for this port, with a cargo of 100 tons coal. The barque Caberfeidh was loading at Newcastle for this port at latest advices. She is to bring coal for the Auckland Gas Company. The brigantine Peerless, hence from Kaipara with timber, thrived at Melbourne on Saturday last, 2nd mat.
