SPORTS AT ELLERSLIE RACE. COURSE.
A sekiks of athletic sports were held at EHersliu Itacecourse, on November 9, in conjunction with the Agricultural aud Pastoral Show, aud towards the afturnoou it was well attended. Mr. K. K. Ellis was handicapper and secretary. The details were satisfactorily carried out, with the following results :—
Mamies Race. —First Heat: S. Barchard, 1 ; D. Orr, 2 ; 11. B.irrer, 3. Second Heat : S. McKinlav, 1; \V. llastie, 2; Buller, 3. Tlie final heat was won by McKiulcy, Orr making a good second.
i 150 Yards Race.—First Heat: J. Pickering, 1 ; H. Wood, 2; D. Orr, 3. Second Heat: M. Monnoek, 1 ; J. Taylor, 2; W. ' Mettam, 3. Final Heat : Monuoek, 1 ; ; Pickering, - ; Taylor, 3.
Onk Milk Ha.sijicai-.—S. Goodman, 1 ; H. Huckstep, 2; A. Harper, 3. Only eight started, and a very good race was the result.
Two Mile Wai.kinc; Jlakdicai , .—liuck' step, 1 ; A. Hendry, 2 ; .J. Selby, 3.
-HO Yards Handicap.—M. Monnoek, 1 ; J. Pickering, 2 ; W. M«ttnm, 3. This race was very closely contested between Monuock and Pickering.
