ONERUNGA BOROUGH.

The ordinary meeting of the Council was held on Monday evening. Present; The Mayor (Mr. Codlin), Messrs. Earle, Fleming, Hartnett, Hattie, Hills, Jackson, Kelsall, Tapp, and Waller. Minutes and correspondence were read. Health.—-About thirty fresh cases of measles were reported by Dr. Scott and several householders. - Right or Wat:—The seal of the Corporation was ordered to bo affixed to four conveyances, granting a right of way, after perusal by the Council's solicitor, Mr. .Laishley. Lightiko.—The committee to whom the matter of lighting the town had been referred reported in favour of gas, and Mr. Fleming said he had been in communication with the Auckland Gas Company, who were willing to extend the main to Onjkunga if sufficient inducement offered. The price; at which ga3 could be supplied would depend on the quantity taken. It was, therefore, ordered th»t a canvas should be made to ascertain the probable requirements. JLkase.—The consent of the. Council was given to the transfer of lease of an allotment. Damacb to Koad.—lt having been reported that some person had cut a dyke across the upper end of Trafalgarstreet, it wa3 supposed for the purpose of letting off water, the Inspector was ordered to report, and, if necessary, take proceedings against the offender. Accounts.—Several accounts were passed, amongst them £199 las for a new pump and enlargement of the reservoir, and for tho waterworks, under the .certificate of tho Engineer, Mr. J. Stewart. Kate.—A motion mado by Mr. J. W. Waller,'' That it is desirable to levy a second rate of Cd in the pound for general purposes," was rejected, and the Council adjourned.
