THE WRECK OF THE SAMSON.
[BY TELEGRAPH. —PRESS ASSOCIATION.] New Plymouth, Sunday. The Court of Inquiry into the wreck of the steamer Samson, gave judgment yesterday morning'to the following effect: "That the loss of the vessel was due to error in the judgment of Captain Harvey, who took the steamer in too early on the tide." The Samson had, however, been taken in the river successfully at the same state of tide by Captain Harvey on previous occasions. The Court considered the practice of vessels entering the river without waiting for the signals should be discontinued. The captain's certificate was returned.
