SMALL-POX AT COOKTOWN. Brisbane, April 23. The steamer Brisbane has arrived at Cooktown from Hongkong, with 350 Chinese, one suffering from small-jjox, and the vessel has therefore been quarantined. TRANSCONTINENTAL RAILWAY. IDItISBANE, _A.pi 11 20. Mr. Mcllraitli, the Premier, telegraphs from London that he has come to an agreement for a company tc carry out the Transcontinental Railway scheme, subject to the survey? confirming the representations -which have been made. The surveying expedition will leave London for Queensland in the middle of May.
