A meeting of tlie Battery J Corps of Volunteers was held on Thursday evening last for the purpose of considering what action should be taken -with regard to the aspersions cast upon the corps by the Poverty Bay Herald in reference to the recent encampment. There were sixty members present, including the oilieers, and resolutions were passed unanimously condemning the Herald for its unwarrantable attack o]i° the corps. The Herald had stated that the camp was mutinous, drunken, and debauched, the officers incompetent, the •whole force demoralised, and the boy cadets did duty for the men. who passed their time away in tlie canteen. Theresolutionsexpressed indignation, and much public sympathy is , expressed for the corps by scores of persons who visited the camp.
