Four domestics o£ the Techeragan Palace have confessed that the Sultan Abdul Aziz, who was believed to have committed suicide on the ,4th of .June, 1576, by stabbing himself with a pair of. scissors, was murdered by themselves. The confession of the assassins implicates several prominent public oOieials in this city. THE TUNIS DIFFICULTY. London", April 23. The Bey of Tunis has addressed a communication to the Powers, in which lie disclaims all responsibility for any outbreak of fanaticism which may take place in the municipality in the present excited state of the. people over the action of the French in Algiers. . KANDAHAR EVACUATED. Calcutta, April 22. News has been received from Kandahar to the clTect that the evacuation of the city by the British forces which were stationed there has been completed. The town and district are now under the control of the Ameer's Government. WAR IN EASTERN EUROPE. Constantinople, April 22. Despatches have been received from Dervish Pasha, commanding the Turkish troops in Western Roumelia, stating that the advance of his troops lias been forcibly opposed by a body of insurgent Albanians at the river Vardar, and that engagements have taken place at Usikiuw, resulting in the defeat of the rebels. THE HOMEWARD MAILS. London, April 23. The Homeward bound Australian and New Zealand mails via San „ Francisco which left Auckland on the Ist March were delivered here to-day. LONDON MARKETS. London, April 22. Consols have advanced to 1011 (sic). 5 per cent. New Zealand, 10-40 ; loan had advanced to 1031-; the 5 per cent. 18S9 loan remains at 10G ; the 4i per cent. 187 9-1904 loanhas advanced to 100 A. Best Scottish pig iron, No. 1, f.0.b., in the Clyde, is unchanged at 49s ; galvanised iron, 20-gauge, <£16 10s. Best Sydney copra per ton. is <£14 ss. Adelaide wheat, ex warehouse, is 50s ; New Zealand wheat, ex ship, is 46s ; Adelaide Hour, ex warehouse, is 345. The total quantity of wheat afloat for Great Britain is 2,550,000 quarters. ; 4
